Love this painting, Mr. Hill. But, "IF…" ?!?!?!!!! You must mean to be saying, "When…" because your incomparable talent allows you to create such beautiful paintings, every time!!! (Am not yelling – just want to express how beautiful I see this painting develop as you "work" on it.) Thank you for the memories as it reminds me of a couple of pictures of antique roses that my late Mamma had, which are now hanging in my bathroom. Suggestion for your Roses. Take it or leave it. Way to go, find light angle. Meaning, think sun/ light is camera. Is it back light or frontal. Like you do the background first. Sketch perspective in softly. O.K. I use oil paint. And , surprise use water color brushes. Scaled size. Then in flowers , always do center base first. Then the rest is go. Have fun. If you have very pink to light roses, they mirror color shawdows off their back ground. Have fun
