This is amazing. I've been struggling on a painting I've been working on since January that's really similar. It was a new idea involving one of my grandma's Christmas decorations that she didn't like. The decoration is made of a faux glossy wood. So thought it would be cool if I painted with tape around the border. But soon realized that oil paints are horrible on faux glossy wood. So thus, my painting looks horrible. Even though I put like 20 coats of an acrylic primer over it. Part of me thinks I should just paint it black and try something more simple that caters to the faux wood. I thought about putting acrylic over it and touching up some details. But I heard that is bad to put acrylic over oil.

Im having problems with my top layers picking up my under painting. I usually use the bob ross liquid white. What do you use to mix with your paint or coat your canvas with before painting. Ive really hit a wall with my progress
