Great tutorial Kevin! Thank.you so very much for taking.the time, and sharing your techniques. I found this.DVD to be the best for the basic fundamentals, and one I am sure I will go back to for reference. If your a beginner or have been painting the wet on wet, this is the DVD. Kevin covers many aspects and tips, the oil based medium , how and when he uses, and why, even tells you how to mix your own if not store bought. In detail how to paint a sky, from the zenith to horizon, clouds, value changes, color mixing to achieve depth. Having multiple layers within the painting and how to achieve that. He shows you how to paint the trees, and explains how to manipulate the brush, how much pressure to use and when/why. So much more, with this, you can incorporate all the tips, techniques in creating your own comps, or follow along with his vids. The painting looks simple, however, you will be surprised how much you will learn from painting along with this. Also, he talks about his brushes, and the right kind of oils needed to achieve the best results, as well as how much paint to apply on canvas. I find his beveled edge, natural bristle brushes to be the best quality, and great for his method of painting. I am a brush hoarder, and, when I use his brushes, the effects are much better. Thanks for your teaching style, and giving us the tools to paint along with you. Your passion for painting, and teaching really show in your artwork, and when your explaining the techniques. Best wishes.
Thanks Kevin for sharing your technique, and explaining all the details. I found that to get the best results with your method of painting, the oils, and brushes are important. Your brushes have given me much better results, the chiseled edge, and natural bristles are the key. You really covered alot in this tutorial, color mixing, the white medium, how to blend a soft sky, create depth, layers in your painting and so much more. Thanks for taking the time in making this tutorial and sharing your great tips.
